I see that 'punching up' now includes all Europeans.

Honestly, any excuse to punch with some people.

Big news from Wales.

Side road zebra crossings as an option where both roads are 20mph are on their way 🦓

Another tool in the box, but I'd recommend contextual use because they are not a universal solution.

In Goodwin Curve news, @willhaycardiff.bsky.social's latest newsletter notes how the immediate aftermath of the Welsh 20 mph speed limits saw a petition raise 400,000 signatures. Today, a second petition has just 2387 signatures

Could we keep the doom for tomorrow? If we have to suffer it regardless, we can at least put it off.

'This government is firmly on the side of the drivers'.
Today marks the 5th anniversary of the end of the consultation on pavement parking, carried out under the last government.

We've seen no action when it comes to standing up for people walking and wheeling, who are unable to go about their daily lives safely and easily.

A reminder that social media always goes extra bad when lots of people aren't at work. Be especially wary of hot takes this week.

Strongly of the belief that Budget discussion should take place on Budget Day and the eleven days thereafter, with perhaps a single Budget item on Budget Eve if you're feeling generous.

This is a weird way of saying 'we do not understand transport planning'. But then this government (per @stephenkb.bsky.social) seems stuck in election mode and doing a terrible job of the governing bit.

A telling nugget from transport Qs on Thurs. Heidi Alexander: "There are no proposals to introduce a national pay-per-mile scheme. This Govt [is] firmly on the side of drivers.

"We are pumping £24bn of capital into motorways & local roads, with a record £1.6bn for local roads maintenance this year"

*All-time record* set at the Omni Centre cycle lane on the 7th November - 2,265 cycle journeys.

I can only speculate that the rollout of Voi e-bikes has significantly boosted cycling in Edinburgh this autumn, bucking the seasonal trend.
