Deeply chuffed to have won People's Active Travel Champion at the 2025 Walk Ride GM Awards.

Thank you to everyone who voted for me!
2023 Bluesky was a very different place. Much quieter too.
I've just read someone on here making a heartfelt apology on the off chance their comment was misinterpreted, and the OP was 'no it's fine', and I'm already enjoying it more than Mastodon.

I dunno what Waterstones is telling publishers, but it's entirely offputting to see multiple authors begging for pre-orders all in a very short period of time.

It's a motorbike. The reporter even names the brand (Sur-Ron) in the article.

Do better, MEN.

All people at my work place do is complain about the parking, it's relentless. But suggest they use the free bus, or cycle, or walk and it's instantly shouted down as a stupid suggestion which will never fix the issue. I know people who can see the site from their house, and still drive.

We need to add 'the dangers of nostalgia' to the school curriculum.
If you’ve been lucky enough to have never seen Corned Beef of my Childhood, your luck has just run out. And don’t think you’ve escaped, ALT text users, you’re getting it too.

It's been a bit weird seeing my old home town of Denton in the national news so much. As a child, I grew up in the Dane Bank area until the age of 10 and we had strong family connections to here. My grandparents lived most of their lives there, having bought a 1930s semi there from new 🧵

There is speculation that the introduction of driverless cars could lead to jaywalking laws in the UK

65% of Britons would oppose making jaywalking a minor offence, including 41% "strongly opposed"

Only 24% are would support such rules

More evidence that local Facebook groups, especially closed ones, are an active threat to democracy.
Dispatches from the #GortonandDenton by-election: local community Facebook groups are being flooded with some really dodgy 💩.

One for my neighbours in Levy and for investigative journalists - not sure whom to talk to about it.

See a few screenshots here, and 🧵on why I think it's sus below.

Please fill in this consultation to make a pretty dreadful roundabout in Buxton a bit more favourable to active travel!
To those of us who live in or travel to/through #Buxton, if you're not aware there is a consultation which ends next Friday (20/2/26) on remodelling the A6 Fairfield Rd/Bakewell Rd junction to include crossings for cyclists and pedestrians... 1/

In my work on side road junction designs, we came up with a model which can be simply measured.

If rules H2/170 are a good thing (they are) what are the conditions we need to create where drivers are "likely" to give way to pedestrians?
What makes side road junctions pedestrian-friendly?

Just to complicate things further, the rise of WFH has had a huge impact on our travel patterns. If you think congestion is bad now, just imagine it with nobody working from home.
Every time someone talks about working from home/return to the office I need to know three things: 1) are they a landlord/are they sympathetic to the landlord class 2) are they a micro manager and 3) how nice is their house if they're PRO wfh
