A largish bird with orange head, neck and chest and a yellow orange belly. The face, throat and tail are solid black and the wings are black with some white markings. The oriole is perched on a small branch with spring greenery in the background.

A hummingbird hovers below a flower with bright pink spiky blossoms. The hummingbird has been caught in mid-flight with dark and light two-toned wings outstretched and a reddish-orange bill tilted up toward the flower. The neck and chest are covered with tiny green dots and the belly is indeed buff-colored. The tiny feet are pulled into the lower belly just above a tail that is brownish-orange in color. The background is blurred green vegetation and there is a random twig running diagonally across the lower part of the photo.

I am always on the lookout for owls, but I haven't had a great deal of success. So, I was really excited to see my first Eastern Screech Owl at #EsteroLlanoGrandeSP last week. His name is Fred and he has taken up residence in an abandoned shed at the park. #birds #originalcontent

One of my many new lifers from last week's trip to the Rio Grande Valley was seen at what would become my favorite new birding place, #EsteroLlanoGrandeSP near Weslaco, TX. This Ladder-backed Woodpecker was a very cooperative model! #birds #originalcontent #photography 📷
A woodpecker with a red cap and black streaks on the face and neck clings to a large tree at a diagonal. The bird's belly is whitish with black spots. The back gives the bird its name with its rungs of black against a whitish background.
