Rounding off my stay in Paris with two talks:

Tomorrow I'll give a LingLunch talk at CNRS-LLF arguing that West/Central African langs challenge formal accounts of disharmonic word order in the FOFC lit

Then on 18th Feb I'll give a talk at CNRS-LLACAN on verb stem variation in Cameroonian Bantoid
Moved to Paris for a 4-month research stay at the CNRS research unit Languages and cultures of Africa (LLACAN) 🇫🇷

Of course I was only referring to Castlemartin
But might I commend FOFC membership to your loyal followers as an excellent gift?

They suggested that ‘if you will take the building into your care, we will commute the cost of demolition that we shall thus save into a grant to FoFC’.

It's a wonderful secret place, hidden away on narrow paths and steep hills! The wall paintings are great, and the roof /loft/ is stunning.
Also recommended: Cwmyoy, Capel y Ffin and several FoFC sites in the area.

Ivor and the FoFC fought tooth and nail. However, sadly, the Bishop wouldn’t back down. Instead, a comprise was reached, with the main body of the church being demolished and the FoFC looking after the fine church tower.

One of the first churches that Ivor saved and vested in the care of the FoFC was the medieval Tuxlith Chapel, Milland in West Sussex.

On the 30th November 1905, exactly 120 years ago, our founder, Ivor Bulmer-Thomas, was born in Cwmbran, Monmouthshire. After founding the FoFC in 1957, Ivor saved many churches from ruin, neglect, and demolition.

The theme of this year’s Heritage Open Days is architecture and, rather fittingly, the three FoFC churches taking part in the South of England have some fascinating architectural features.

Indeed, they are lovely. However, although I am unsure in this specific instance, the FoFC rarely introduces items like this into churches. Hence, it is more than likely that these were already here before we took on the church in 2018/19.

There are a few last small repairs for the FoFC still to complete at St Giles’s, but we’re looking forward to having the church open again to visit, use and enjoy a little later in the year.

New study explores two key word order constraints—U20 & FOFC—revealing how syntactic hierarchy shapes language. Why are *Adj-Dem-N & *V-O-Aux universally dispreferred? Dive into the patterns.

On 26th July, we will be hosting a ‘clean-up day’ at St Giles’s. This will be an opportunity to find out more about the FoFC, the church, and how to get involved as a volunteer, as well as to help on the day with cleaning the church in preparation for its re-opening.
