‘Experts declared it extinct in 2009 after it having been absent for 22 years, but the orchid defiantly appeared a week later.’
I suppose the collective noun for a grouping of ghost orchids (should such a thing even be possible) is a Defiance.

Loved this article about the elusive #GhostOrchid so much, I began a collage which, in the slant-wise fashion of such things, then hardly referred to it.
Clearly a plant destined for the #GhostFurnitureCatalogue garden centre, there to remain ‘out of stock’.

Over in the other place, a good friend of mine, Richard Bate, posted yesterday that after a 15 year gap, the Ghost (Epipogium aphyllum) had be rediscovered, by him.

So imagine my surprise last week to learn that the elusive ghost orchid is not anywhere on the federal list of species granted legal protection. It has the same protected status as a rutabaga — in other words, none. #Florida #ghostorchid #Environment
