This is a glacial lake in the Chugach National Forest. The lake has only become visible since 1914, because of the rapid melting of Portage Glacier.

Just up road from Bow Lake is Peyto Lake, with an awesome viewpoint deck above the lake, accessible via a short hike.

L'arête sommitale fait le dos rond. Tout en haut, là où le ciel rencontre la pierre, une cordée de grimpeurs... et un empilement improbable de rocs : c'est un de ces endroits où tu te demandes comment fait la montagne pour tenir debout. D'imposants rochers, zébrés d'énormes failles... Certains semblent posés juste en équilibre, à peine stables, comme délicatement placés par un géant qui se serait découvert une passion pour les Kapla ou les châteaux de cartes... et pourtant l'ensemble tient. Sur une dalle, un emplacement rectangulaire, quasi lisse et rectiligne : comble de l'improbabilité dans ce paysage minéral de lignes brisées. Bien plus bas, le Lac, flaque turquoise parfaite entourée de longs pierriers gris et auburn. Des morceaux de névés de toutes formes qui esquissent des tests de Rorschach dans les pentes. Des petites zones herbeuses, vert kaki, à l'allure de moquette. La ligne de crête, écailleuse comme l'échine d'un dragon. Des sommets inconnus se relayant jusqu'à se noyer dans l'infini.
