This magnificent station is built using a structural system called the Catalan arch, brought to US by a Spanish immigrant named Rafael Guastavino. (See also dozens of major turn of the 20th century buildings, ie Boston Public Library, Grand Central Oyster Bar, Biltmore, and St. John the Divine.

Era un valencià format professionalment a Catalunya.

El seu llegat va ser donat a la "Catalan Archive of Art and Architecture" de la Universitat de Colúmbia de Nova York.

Tot i que vaig renéixer a NYC gràcies a un llarg tractament mèdic de menut (per contradiccions del sistema sanitari), havia decidit no viatjar als EUA mentre hi haguera dictadura trumpista.

Ara, amb l'alcalde Mamdani, però, potser faré excepció. M'ho posa fàcil si comença reivindicant Guastavino.

Sospecho que tiene más que ver con el tema del transporte público y es buena metafora... incluso tiene un punto lírico de que las estaciones antes de esta época de privatización neoliberal eran catedrales, palacios civiles.
Dicho esto, la pereza que me da Guastavino es = grande. ^_^

This station was designed by Raphael Guastavino—a contemporary of Gaudí. It’s still used when the 6 trains do a u turn after the Brooklyn Bridge.
