Event focused on the #harbourporpoise in Arteixo, organized by the Habitat Naturalist Group after it was chosen by them as species of the year.
We also took this opportunity to present new models of the species -with collaboration of Deputación da Coruña-, which we will use in outreach activities.

The prevalence of ultra short baseline acoustic position systems, also known as USBLs 🔊, is understudied in #EuropeanWaters and its effect on marine mammals 🐋, such as the #harbourPorpoise, is mostly unknown. These systems are used in #geophysicalSurveys and during #trawling fishing activities. 🧵1/6

Last week saw some great land based cetacean sightings of #KillerWhale, #HarbourPorpoise, #CommonDolphin & #Risso’sDolphin off the #Caithness #coast
Who would have thought that the second week in November would be so productive, especially after such a poor summer of #cetacean sightings 🐳🐬
