Today on International Day of People with Disability, we acknowledge the disabled and chronically ill community and their right to sexual expression.
Disabled rights are human rights and sexual expression is a human right.

We deserve not only to be seen, but to have our strength and ingenuity celebrated by the broader community.” Anonymous DSWAG member The Disabled Sex Workers Advisory Group (DSWAG) is composed of sex workers who are disabled and chronically ill. The barriers to health services faced by disabled sex workers are multifaceted and deeply systemic. From a lack of free and anonymous sexual health services to limited access to sex worker-friendly GPs, mental health care, and allied health support, the healthcare system often fails to meet our needs. DSWAG is currently collecting personal stories from disabled sex workers across unceded Australia. The survey aims to document stigma and discrimination in healthcare settings, and show why further advocacy is needed. International Day of People with Disabilities. Swipe to see how we’re securing wins for disability rights in Central Asia In a milestone achievement for inclusive labor policy, the Solidarity Center’s advocacy efforts contributed to the adoption of a standardized employment contract template for workers with disabilities by the government of Kyrgyzstan last year. Digital Inclusion: Job-Matching App. Harnessing technology to address employment barriers, the Solidarity Center supported the launch of the unique “TenIshte” mobile application, a tool designed to connect job-seeking PWDs with inclusive employers in Kyrgyzstan. Two Solidarity Center partners, Equal Opportunities and ITeachMe, led trainings for youth with disabilities. Over 300 young PWDs in Kyrgyzstan have now been trained on their rights under the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), including labor rights and defending them.

Today is #InternationalDayOfPeopleWithDisabilities and we’re celebrating by sharing Ferris Wheel by Rosaleen Moore, a work depicting a familiar scene on Grand Parade at Christmas time. Rosaleen is a member of Crawford Supported Studios., a sustained creative environment that centres disabled people.
