This is why I prefer rules-light systems like Mörk Borg that by design are modular and have tons of third party content to slot into my games as I’d like. Hell, there’s a genre of TTRPGs called “Borgs” that are entire new settings with rules adapted to them. My fave.

An idea that has fallen out of favor in design circles is the idea of RPG rules as something modular, but for a period of time, this was the default assumption - one way of building good rules was to build them so that others could write complementary rules and slot them in.

If your players don't like their characters dying in #MörkBorg, bring them back.

Just make sure their existence is filled with agony and vile creeping torments of shadows. Wounds that never truly heal and scars that glow of heresy like embers of a fire.

Make them pray for death, for it is easy.
