Prachtvoll inszeniertes Bühnenspiel von D.W. Hilsdorf, eine Opernreise wert!

April 23, 1775: Mozart’s opera “Il Re Pastore” (“The Shepherd King”) has its first performance in Salzburg, Austria, at the archbishop’s palace. The 19-year-old wunderkind is at least the 16th composer (others included Gluck) to write a setting for the libretto by Metastasio. 1/2

Jan. 20, 1775: “Demofoonte,” an opera by Czech composer Josef Mysliveček based on a libretto by Metastasio, premieres at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples to celebrate the birthday of Spain’s King Charles III. Mysliveček, a friend of the Mozarts, is greatly admired by Wolfgang.
