Went back to have a good fiddle with the nib. A damn good flushing didnt work, but a couple of minutes with some micromesh pads and its now writing very well, considering how tiny the nib is...

Jinhao 10, medium nib. Awful. Keeps drying up halfway through a sentence as if the feed is starved. Gets all draggy and thin. Then a sentence or so later starts flowing again.

Converter, cart, cleaned. No improvement. Which is a shame as when it works it writes nicely. Back to the fine nib I guess.

Text: Happy Polishtober everyone! As I work on illustrated and written works throughout the month, I wanted to make addendums, diagrams, and explanations for the more shall we say, fantastical elements present in the works I write to justify the existence of certain kinks on these sports robots. More to be under the cut. Normally I would hand wave it with "bah this is the series with a virus that transforms robots into vampires, suspend your disbelief a little" but I wanted to further justify things to the best of my ability. I should also make a big note that I am frankly, a massive dumbass when it comes to machinery and mechanical workings. I do have some leway with the fact resources are mined from space which could include some strange metals, how technology has progressed, and again, virus that makes robots into xenomorph vampires, but I will try to stay true to IL's routes in primarily being very grounded in how machines work. Anyways, onto the main event. Robot fat serves one vital purpose: shock absorption. You don't want your sports robot to go down in one blow, you want them to survive at least a few hits to really get the crowd going at acts of rough play. So needing to not be knocked around so easily, as well as protect more delicate components, is why shock absorption is so vital. Technology has progressed in such a way that it's less like coils we see in a lot of machines, and more of an incredibly thick liquid rubber, often called "shock rubber". This is also paired with how thanks to resources mined from space, a new type of metal was developed that is essentially, very very tiny (almost microscopic) chain mail that can "add" more chains like if it were comprised of nanobots (which I will refer to as "micromesh iron" from here on out). This mesh is highly flexible yet sturdy like sheets of metal, and is commonly used in areas like the torso, legs, arms, face, and neck, where something more flexible to pull off sports move or emote more clearly. Text: The general diagram of how it's layered is like this: Yellow is the micromesh iron, blue is the shock rubber, and pink is the actual metal housing. Because of the metallic nature, it's not more or less difficult to get into the housing and wires if a leaguer has more or less shock absorption. You can still flip panels, thankfully. Overall texture with all these layers is that these shock absorption layers feel like a silicone with a flexible, cold metal outer shell. It's very squishy, especially if there's a lot of it, but it's also a bit more firm compared to organic fat. Shock Rubber is also notably made of a lot of the same compounds as leaguer oil, and is often made when oil is processed (being added to a leaguer's frame if the oil is high in certain contents needed to create more shock rubber). If in a state of critically low fuel, small fuel lines can inject into the shock rubber and "burn" it off to be used as an emergency (but not ideal) way to fuel up. Though generally, leaguers without any shock rubber feel miserable and lethargic. Now how does all that oil get processed, I hear you ask. Let's move onto that Text: This is a very rough diagram of how a fueling system works. The blue section is the main fuel tank which primarily serves to store and process fuel. It can expand a good amount due to essentially being a highly reinforced accordion pipe capable of expanding and contracting over and over again. The pink section is what stores processed fuel in a far more rigid tank. This more rigid tank then pumps fuel all across a leaguer's systems where needed. That's all I have for now in regards to justifying making sports robots absolute fatties and should cover most if not all bases I tend to think about.
