Syntax reminisces about when he was younger and worked as an apprentice to Trostworth, his departed mentor and former owner of Trotstworth Tomes, the bookshop he runs today. Trotsworth wore the fedora that Syntax now wears. Pecan Sandy fondly remembers when she was a filly and would bake for her mother, Vanilla Sundae, who encouraged her to follow her dreams of becoming a baker, and from whom she inherited her pearl necklace after she passed away.
