The #ontario manufacturing base should 100% redirect away from personal vehicles. There’s a whole world of public transit and micromobility opportunity #canada could move towards. Supply chains would be an obvious issue but easier to figure out then everything collapsing into nothing

You live right next to Ontario, doctor. You already know the solution. Cut insurance companies out entirely, for medically-necessary care. The state should pay providers directly, from tax revenue, based on an agreed-upon fee schedule.

A new study of one of Canada’s most urbanized rivers suggests it dumps the equivalent of about 18 cars worth of microplastics into Lake Ontario every year, a finding that shocked the lead author and underscored efforts to cut down on pollution. The peer-reviewed study published Thursday estimates the Don River basin flushes about 500 billion particles of microplastics, with a mass of about 36,000 kilograms, into the lake each year.
