As a fan of Pokémon, the Poketoon example was pretty disappointing to me, because I would've loved to see an entire set of shorts dedicated to this style, but as smooth as it is, it feels smooth in the wrong places. And it's kinda the only time they tried this, too, from what I remember.

The biggest frustration I had with the Pokétoon is that almost EVERYTHING is animated on ones and it kills the timing and punch of certain gags. The Brandt-Cervone T&J films have a similar problem too.

They used male adjectives for the Gardevoir in the Italian dub of the latest Poketoon btw
Due to how Italian works, you can't keep it ambiguous, you either use male or female pronouns / adjectives etc etc
So it was a deliberate choice

Latest poketoon is about a Japanese delivery guy in a clearly Japanese city with clearly Japanese people but the writing is still that made-up alphabet the company made up years ago because a certain part of the world would have been afraid to acknowledge Pokémon was Japanese and not theirs

217. Poketoon: Another Day with Gardevoir

This one follows a trainer who failed as champion and has a dead end job as a delivery driver. We see flashbacks to the story between the two and disaster strikes and we see a mega evolution. These show another look at the Pokemon world and I love them.
