The $2 Session...

NSEA President and Vice President urge the #NVLeg to #PassThePlan. "This is the moment to break the cycle of chronic underfunding and invest in the future of our public schools. The Commission has done its job. Now, it’s time for you to do yours. Pass the Plan."

With optimal education funding, Nevada could lower class sizes, providing a better education to every student. There’s a plan commissioned by the state to do this. It’s time to #PassThePlan
"But, folks, we can no longer accept lack of funding as an excuse for chronic underperformance." - Governor Lombardo🤨

If only there was a Plan, put forth by a Commission on School Funding to get Nevada to optimal funding... #PassThePlan #nvleg

Over time Nevada’s population has grown while its ability to generate funding for critical infrastructure including well funded public schools is stuck in the past. Our students’ future flourishing is at stake unless we #PassthePlan made possible by AJR1.
It’s time! #nvleg
OPINION by John L. Smith: Can lawmakers fix the state’s property tax depreciation loophole this time?

“The logical question at this point is: If this is such a good idea, why wasn’t this changed long ago?”

NSEA VP Brian Wallace urging the #NVLeg to #PassThePlan

"Gov. Lombardo said we can no longer blame a lack of funding for underperformance in schools. At the same time, his budget fails to follow the Funding Commission recommendations and instead proposes to cut per-pupil funding."

Carson Education Support Association President Kerri Finn - "A mere $2 increase per student is both insufficient and an insult, especially given that Nevada will be $4,091 per pupil short. You’ll hear it a lot, but I’ll say it again — #PassThePlan!

As we said after last year's report, Nevada's priorities are misguided. #NVLeg

Nevada is still around 47th in the nation in funding with the largest class sizes in the county.

Stadiums won't solve this issue.

#HollywoodHandouts won't solve this issue.

#PassThePlan *will* solve this issue.
The NEA's Rankings of the States 2024 and Estimates of School Statistics 2025 were released today, and once again, Nevada has the largest class sizes in the nation. This is the direct result of years of chronic underfunding and neglecting this critical issue. #NVLeg

Fun Fact:The only section of the Commission’s 534pg report that contemplates tax abatements is Exhibit F, an investigation of tax credit school voucher programs. The only consideration of the film industry is a recommendation to extend the sales tax to the downloading of digital movies #PassThePlan
An interesting appearance from Guy Hobbs, chair of the Commission on School Funding. Seems very odd the #NVLeg will listen to him about a #HollywoodHandout, but they will ignore his plan to get to Nevada to Optimal Funding...

One thing is clear - We must #PassThePlan. We cannot let the Commission on School Funding's plan collect dust and become the old Nevada plan. The #NVLeg has the plan for optimal funding. They must pass it.

Since day one of the 83rd Session, NSEA has said #PassThePlan to fully fund public education. To do so, Nevada must commit to at least a $700 dollars per-pupil increase in each of the next two years, totaling just over $604 million dollars for the biennium to stay on track.

AB584 earns a big red “See Me After Class!” from educators. When we demanded Gov. Lombardo #PassThePlan to fully fund our schools, he dismissed us, saying we can no longer accept a lack of funding for poor school performance, and then offered a $2 increase to per pupil funding.
