Baseball field of dreams taking shape at Peffermill
Edinburgh Rays baseball team are expecting a significant boost in playing numbers as they prepare to complete work on a ground they can call home at Morgan Playing Fields, Peffermill. Work is well underway with support from The City of Edinburgh Council and businesses such as Raeburn Brick, Jewson's and Cloburn Quarry to create an appropriate diamond plus mounds, backstops and bases without interfering with football pitches used by Edinburgh South FC…

The remainder of my free food haul.
Fair play to whoever came up with this idea.
Crowds at BUCS games at East Peffermill can sometimes be in single figures, but well over 100 here today.

I'm not averse to watching University teams play each other - the top levels of the BUCS (British Universities & Colleges Sport) leagues are a good standard.
Today, the Scottish Tier 1 season opens with Edinburgh University v Glasgow University at East Peffermill.

I used it too when driving to Portobello; saved getting stuck in the queue at the Peffermill/Craigmillar traffic lights.

Well, the area of Edinburgh where the factory is is called Peffermill, which I assume is Scottish for pepper mill.

Charlotte Watson celebrated her 100th cap for Scotland with a spectacular solo goal, but the Tartan Hearts were broken by a 4-3 scoreline in the second of two hockey Test matches with France at The University of Edinburgh Playing Fields at Peffermill. The 27-year-old, who also has 34 caps for Great Britain and competed in the Paris Olympics last year, forced a turnover just outside the French D and drove for goal, leaving the defence in her slipstream.

Scotland's women's hockey team looked set for a narrow win over France in the first of two Test matches at Peffermill Playing Fields in Edinburgh, but they were denied by a late penalty stroke. Olympian Amy Costello fired the host ahead but Eve Verzura replied and the second match is at Peffermill on Sunday (push off 11.15am). Ava Wadsworth and Cat Nelli earned their first caps for Scotland in the contest watched by an encouraging crowd and Scotland began on the front foot, exerting real pressure on the French defence.

Scotland win against France at Peffermill
Scotland’s senior women’s hockey team edged France in a training game at Edinburgh’s Peffermill Playing Fields in front of an encouraging crowd. The 2-1 victory was hard-fought and the game is a prelude to a Test double-header at the same venue on Saturday (11.30) and Sunday (11.15) against the same side. The Scots edged ahead in a scrappy game in the first half, which they largely dominated, from a penalty corner converted by Amy Costello, but France levelled seconds from half-time, a real blow.

Capital Coffee – Artisan Roast’s distinct flavour
Artisan Roast was one of the pioneers of specialty coffee in Edinburgh. Opening in 2007, they now have four shops across the city (plus a kiosk on Little King Street), and a well respected roastery in Peffermill. Their first café, on Broughton Street, remains popular to this day. Deservedly so. Rising uniformity One thing that is distinct about this café is its aesthetic, which is markedly different from most specialty coffee places in the city.
