#Phonetic
Was watching on the Virgin stream but, jeez, I can imagine in. People who get paid to say people’s names for a living who can’t say people’s names are just the absolute worst! Especially when, as in Cormac’s case, there’s not even a phonetic complication…

It’s a BIG BOI (and the very end pages of it actually has some really cool things like the phonetic spellings for every single character, setting and term in the whole book)

I would say that "you can hear the phonetic inaccuracy" is enough to call it wrong here. the context of the medium is significant

Is it because their names contain flagrant yet obvious examples of irrational non-phonetic spelling based on historical tradition?

Then, Äänian, the language of soundborn, is based on, well, sounds. Insane phonetic range (phonetic symbols instead of a typical script). Vocab and grammar based on onomomatopheias, accents, tone.

I sincerely appreciate when someone can’t pronounce my name and asks me how to pronounce it as opposed to completely fucking butchering it.

It’s phonetic with ya bitch ass.

Did you know there’s a letter for the sound of a kiss? 💋

It’s ʘ, the symbol for the bilabial click in the International Phonetic Alphabet!

My name is a fairly common one, but it's a less common spelling of it. When I need to have it recorded accurately for someone's records, I want to say "it's spelled חסר", but I have to keep reminding myself most people around here don't speak Hebrew.

I use the NATO phonetic alphabet cos 🐎 voice.

So everyone has to be able to READ each(and every) language of the world in order to be able to get the pronunciation of each languages name right??? I’m talking English language spelling needs to have an alternative, phonetic spelling so that pronunciation respects every language.

Mum is on the phone trying to arrange the postal redirect. The line is so awful she’s trying to use the phonetic alphabet to spell our names. U for ‘umbrella’ and L for ‘lakeside’ are particular highlights so far! 😂

Chamber of Patent Disputes dismissed the Wenzhou Mingyu's 'Клевер цвета' vs CLEVER WEAR appeal. Phonetic overlap alone didn’t drive risk; scripts and visuals diverged. Cross-script differences curb confusion risk.

Next up for Vocabr is additional word information - etymology, phonetic pronunciation, part of speech, etc. I’m iterating through some design options and hope to launch the updates this weekend. Let me know what else you’d like to see!

I’m not talking of changing names! Alternative, phonetic spelling ensures correct learning of the correct pronunciation. Makes true pronunciation more inclusive, accessible and consistent.

You don’t know what they are but you still felt offended by my use of the phrase? Weird way to let your feelings get in front of the facts. This is the general dictionary meaning:

I don't speak Russian, but listening to these videos, she is swearing. I have heard "na-hoy-ey" (my phonetic spelling) on many different videos, it's a nasty cuss of some sort. The ones I have picked up are:
peyiz-detz
piz-da
na-hoy-ey
ye-bat
All seem to coincide with sub-titles of f**k variations.

Do you mean where they say “formant in British English “? Scroll down and you will also see them saying it’s American English. That’s just how they lay out their different dictionaries. Definitely phonetic jargon.
