2/ The sea otter, Enhydra lutris, lives only in the N Pacific. Its' closest modern relatives are the old world otters in the genera Aonyx and Lutra; Enhydra is highly derived and phylogeny/geography of modern otters offers shockingly little information about its origins, other than maybe Europe/Asia
