**Abstract:** Climate change is exacerbating drought conditions globally, severely impacting crop yields. *Brassica napus* (rapeseed), a crucial oilseed crop, is particularly vulnerable. This study details a novel approach for enhancing drought tolerance in *B. napus* by pyramiding the *DREB1F* and *NCED3* genes, both known to play critical roles in drought response, using CRISPR-Cas12a technology. We combine advanced phenotyping techniques with QTL mapping to identify optimal genomic locations for targeted gene editing, significantly exceeding existing genetic improvement strategies through precision and combinatorial engineering.

When we tried to quantify this for steady state expression in prior work we see a significant (but small) fraction of disease heritability captured by measurable steady state QTL models which suggests they are a useful starting point (and what else do we have anyway?)
