Roocode orchestrate mode with minimax m2 or GLM 4.6 is actually quite good for moderate coding tasks and very cost effective. Great to see open source closing the gap.

Deepseek terminus, Zai GLM 4.5 and Kimi K2 are my go-to models for roocode. Terminus for mode architect, ask and learn code. The rest are interchangeable for code mode. When they are stuck then I choose gpt5-codex. Now I understand why the subscription model isn't going to work

And Cursor just barely beating them...like only 1 or 2% better.

I've been using RooCode for a while with CC + Gemini 2.5 under neath for projects. It was good. Now I'm running ChatGPT via Codex in VSCode. I have had only success with it. For people new to messing around with Code I will be suggesting this mix. Very user friendly:

This past week was busy! I completed my Clinical Data Models class, tested some builds in WebStorm, and learned a bunch of neat features on coding with AI agents (GitHub Copilot, Junie, and RooCode). Time to touch grass!

We have OSS copilots like Cline, RooCode, for OSS editors like VSCode, Zed, etc.
I signed up for shortcutAI as it looked like the closest to what I wanted (cline for spreadsheets). But really this could work for deskt
