More boats from The Maldives 🇲🇻 (there are many there, as one might expect!)
A long low motorboat is overtaking a smaller boat with a triangular red sail. Behind them is a sliver of white beach then low green vegetation on an almost flat island, barely above sea level. A pale blue sky is dotted with tiny clouds. A traditional boat with upturned prow is more on the sea shore. It is orange, and carrying blue boxes. Bring are a large boathouse and smaller buildings. Four completely different small boats on the sea, close to the shore. Most are traditional, at least one is a motor boat. The sea is bright turquoise, the horizon a sliver of dark blue, then pale blue sky. A large and handsome traditional boat by the shoreline. It is dark green with a red edge to the rail and a red & green roof.

Another magical trip: a week on this boat over New Year, a few years ago in The Maldives 🇲🇻 Saw the New Year in, swimming in the light from the boats, then back on board for champagne 🥂 🍾 🥳
Its (larger) partner boat is just behind in the first pic, and ahead of us in the second.

I do like a rotting or dishevelled boat — they have such mystery and so many secrets!
A boat with distressed paintwork, by an island in the Inner Hebrides A small rowboat in the harbour at Malé, capital of the Maldives. It has hardly any sides, with just the bare wooden slats of deck barely above the water. An upturned blue boat with a red stripe sits by a corrugated metal building on an island in the Maldives 🇲🇻 The paint is worn away and flaking. The prow of a large wooden boat, which has been dumped and left on the shore of the Nile in Egypt 🇪🇬 The wooden mast is still standing, but any paintwork is long gone from the weather.

Egypt 🇪🇬 I had a wonderful 3 days on a felucca on the Nile with absolutely no facilities—it was great! Could actually touch the water as we sailed.
First pic is for Wombat, because I know he likes it.
Second is of our two feluccas moored for the night. Mats on the deck for sleeping.

A slightly bigger boat on the river with a cabin — I could have stayed there instead of on shore, but it was mosquito season, so decided against it.

This was a great trip: a week on this boat travelling up the River Gambia 🇬🇲 stopping at different locations, and staying overnight each night at increasingly rough accommodation 😆

He is sitting and smiling alongside the boat’s motor, which he controls, and he is surrounded by cans of fuel 😆 Again, the river is incredibly wide, so only one shore can be seen in the distance. Another view of the boat, moored for the evening at a small wooden dock with red metal guardrail. The boat is striped blue and white, with a green awning trimmed in white. In the distance is the other shore of the river.
