There's not a screen refresh ... just a continual re-painting of characters on the canvas. (The original Mil Falcon .ANS file had 1M chars and no line breaks.)
The animations can be played via telnet on my BBS; they're intended for high speeds, not classic 80s/90s rates like 2400, 14.4K.

How did you manage the screen refresh? Was this over telnet or SSH on a modern network, or did you emulate an 80s/90s bitrate? My animations back in the day were usually limited to marquees and clever flourishes.

FileZilla? I remember transferring files using telnet (and pasting text into the terminal) and, before, that transferring files using floppies (and then thumb drives)!

And the hub works! Which means I can telnet from my Linux desktop into my HP 9000 Model 705 running HP-UX 9. This is much nicer than having to keep going over to the other desk to poke at it, and it makes it much easier to put files on it. Before I was making ISO files and putting them on a BlueSCI.

I remember that we had internet in the dorms, certainly by the time I was working as an RA, but I can't remember if it was there my freshman year. I remember using telnet. Mosaic's browser was only installed on the Macs in the computer clusters. Early www was janky and more a novelty than anything.
