There’s a new Garo series and I REALLY wish someone else was subbing it, because TV-Nihon (takenoko especially) is awful at subbing. Flashy over the top font, unnecessary cuss words, and subbing mystic incantations as “gibberish”

Takenoko holds a special place in my heart. I got it very early in my board game journey after seeing it on Geek & Sundry 10+ years ago. It's such a tight example of push and pull in design.

- Forbidden Island - co-op where you try to grab items/escape before the island sinks
- Takenoko - you try to grow bamboo gardens (matching game sort of) but a panda also keeps showing up to eat your progress, lol. I got this one bc the art was cute but its a chill fun time too.

Played Takenoko on 2026-01-18. 15 years after its release, it's still a perfect 10/10 and Top 10 game for me. My mom friends had never played it before and got to experience the panda magic for the first time! boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/70...

Played Takenoko today. It's been a few years since I played this. Good game. A race for points really. The production and design of the game is lovely though. Was glad to get it back to the table!

Takenoko are superior, but I can usually only find Kinoko (aka Chocorooms) here in the US. I'm glad for a brief moment there will be harmony 😂
