People make the luddite vs technophile divide too clear cut. In reality, most people hate most technology. The amount of planner, project management, and note taking apps speak to this. Most software and appliance are good at like one thing and jamming in a bunch of features tends to make them worse

One of the things I thought was just Tony Blair doing base-pleasing/being a technophile was him saying that progressive parties lose when they don't 'own the future' but increasingly I go 'oh, right, okay, this is what you were warning against'.

Et bien la réponse, c'est que les deux utilisent un instrument assez rare et qui n'a pas survécu aux innovations technologiques, le clavioline. Jack White est un technophile fan des Beatles, mais je ne sais pas si c'est chez eux qu'il a trouvé l'idée d'utiliser cet instrument.

I once was a huge technophile, and tried every new social media platform. But now I’m so infuriated by AI, surveillance, and advertising, I have gone almost silent everywhere except here. (And the discord for a 30 yo, tiny mmo that I still play).

The technophile and pro-creative instinct in me (I'm a scientist and a programmer) sees these Google "use GenML to tweak your photos to do impossible things" as pretty cool.
There's still a part of me bothered by the casual distortion of the historical record. We're making fake records of things.

I read the article carefully...and it's a load of shit, written by a pompous ass technophile who edits a journal called "The New Atlantis." Got it. And truly, those tech folks don't understand epidemiology at all. It's too complicated for them. It doesn't work like electronic circuits.
