#Technotopia
Hard to parse any of this, but it sounds like the Bluesky honchos banned a guy from Blacksky? Which is nominally its own instance? Thereby proving by their own actions that the technology behind their dreamed-of technotopia doesn't work?

IDK, maybe just don't support Nazis over their victims?

The digital world of 2025 is an increasingly dark place—promises of an end-of-history, neoliberal technotopia have foundered on the rocks of monopoly, nativism, and a fractured epistemological understanding of the world. I’ve personally seen the retreat from the “digital public square” to semi-private spaces: group chats, invite-only servers, forums. Some of them are “group chats that rule the world.” Indeed, we seem to be, collectively, past “Peak Social Media.” This week, Julia Kieserman investigates the rise of a different sort of digital private space: social location sharing.

If a friend wore this to a Halloween party I'd politely compliment them but we are also peons in the oncoming technotopia. Zuckerberg has the money to look better than he does. His stylist hates him.

**(cont) Arguably it should be Technotopia, since techno- is the combining form of the word, e.g. as in technology, but I think techtopia is snappier.

***The alternative to currency is not barter, as many would have you believe, but ledgers and optionally fixed rates of exchange for commodities.

Scott Farquhar’s “Technotopia” rests on the idea that business deserves special treatment to invest in the societies where it operates. Subsidies, tax breaks and labour-law carve-outs are standard fare. Ceding sovereignty is another matter. satpa.pe/WvZStH3
Risks in the race to deregulate
ANALYSIS: As the government strives to fast-track a green transition and manufacturing revival, it’s crucial to avoid ceding control to private enterprise.

Typical for our neocapitalist technotopia, work previously done by skilled experts is offloaded to the much less qualified consumer

Its because they work all the time! TNG is a neoliberal technotopia of total labor mobilization. There are no sensibilities, only competencies.

It was paid for by the rich....

Technotopia maybe, in 2025?
Peter Thiel's orgasmic dreams?

They will still be slaves.
But can look down upon the darren lands they left behind...

he has to protect himself, so it seems like he's 100% loyal. the goal is clearly to get rid of the orange shit stain, so they can install their fascist technotopia.

Muskish technies dreaming of a mechanistic steely technotopia on Mars or Prospera {female} in Honduras aren't doing anything new.
Think Ian Fleming's 'Dr. No' or Verne's 'Capt. Nemo.'

These male egotists make fun of childless cat ladies but which of them wouldn't give their left nut to know one.

I recently played Technotopia, a puzzle city builder with cards with a really cool aesthetic.
Also teraformers, a colony building game weirdly enough with also cards.
And I would like to try Die in Dungeon because we play frogs and I love frogs 😍

Agree completely.

A lot of them came in as libertarians who came to that from Heinlein and sometimes Ayn Rand or Cryptonomicon. The graduated with much the same beliefs and the ones who went to work for tech companies had them augmented with technotopia nonsense.

I went to grad school lol.

This is super important.

Tech bros can talk about efficiency and technotopia solutions, but at the end of the day… PEOPLE NEED REAL FOOD.

We must grow that food & in order to do that in the most efficient way, we must have & use reliable data! 📊

can i get a amen @whysharksmatter.bsky.social ?!

Farmers depend on climate data. They’re suing the USDA for deleting it.

Growing food is a precarious business, and losing access to key information makes it worse.
