Okay I am getting creative. Snails are everywhere 🐌

2350m up in the Alps, under da sea, and in between. Heliciniae indet, Doriprismatica atromarginata, Aplysia californica
Heliciniae crawling on a plant in a rock fissure, Gemmipass, Switzerland. The snail is maybe 1-2cm, light colored shell with slight striations in the direction of growth. Mantle is yellowish brown. Eyestalks are out! Doriprismatica atromarginata in Tulamben, Bali. It's a white nudibranch with ruffled mantle edges that are edged in black Aplysia, a sea hare, cruising a tidepool filled with coralline algae. It's mostly dark pink/purple, the color it will ink if you make it upset

See the big wacky black thing at the top? It's Scutus antipodes, a keyhole limpet!! A weirdo more closely related to abalone than true limpets (quoted) or slugs.

Orange tidepool rock covered with life. The largest is a big black sluglike creature, several inches long, and it looks kind of like black Aplysia but if you cut off the top and the whitish internal shell was on display. Its anterior tentacles are also visible just within the water. All over the rest of the rock are at least 5 chitons, a number of barnacles, an unidentified black object (I don't think another Scutus antipodes), and what I'm pretty sure are serpulid worm tubes. Yeah, the worms that have eyes

Jayce doesn’t say anything. Viktor watches the water roll in, and out. He looks down into the tidepool. “But to discover that my life might have been better, if I had been…” He trails off, grunts. He gestures into the pool. “If the gods had placed me in one of those instead of this?” “Viktor,” Jayce says, his voice soft and shattered. “I am not mad at the crabs. I am not mad at you. But I have always been upset, Jayce. I always will be. Oftentimes I am upset only with the circumstances, by the fact my intellect is hidden and my body is not. I am upset that I cannot often overcome presumptions. That in the eyes of many, I will always be…” he gestures to himself, his leg. His brace, forged by Jayce’s hand. The hand which is gripping Viktor’s shoulder. Viktor chokes out, “But I am, occasionally, upset with my body’s limitations. They are frustrating. I am occasionally upset that it hurts. Normally I can comfort myself with the fact that my mind is unconstrained. But now? I find myself upset with my mind.” Jayce squeezes his shoulder, tight. Here’s a Willet (Tringa semipalmata) I encountered last year in Gulfport, Mississippi. It was morning, the tide low, and the bird was steadily trudging through a quiet tidepool.

A 2 cm long baby garibaldi fish (Hypsypops rubicundus) in a large tidepool. This is the world's largest damselfish, and like more tropical damsels, the babies are adorned with a constellation of bluish, highly reflective spots! Also, there's a damn rainbow in there too. 🦑🦀
