#WQV-1
This is the Casio #WQV-1, the world's first camera watch. Originally you would sync via an IR serial dongle on Win98, but most of the IR pods are long gone. I made a device that syncs, converts, and mounts as a USB drive to get your photos!

📷 The Casio WQV-1 Wrist Camera from 2000 is the first digital camera built into a wristwatch. It can store 100 black and white photos with a resolution of 120x120 pixels. 😎 It's not hard to imagine how it sparked the interest of gadget enthusiasts back then...

@mgroeber.bsky.social if you are indeed the same Marcus Gröber, I am indebted to you for your pioneering work on the WQV-1. Thank you!

It uses a custom protocol on an IR standard called IRDA to sync, which is increasingly obscure, but thankfully 1. IRDA transceivers are still being manufactured in 2026, and 2. a dev named Marcus Gröber reverse engineered the Casio protocol and data layout in 2012!

To get these of the watch I had first burn a CD with the software (obtained through obscure Reddit link), then run it on my Windows 98 ThinkPad, use it to get images from the watch, then copy them to floppy disk and read them on my modern computer!

Easy as 1-2-3. 😅
