Been campaigning for ages to rename the little stub of a freeway that gets drivers there from the San Diego Freeway. No more Marina Freeway; name it instead after a natural feature, not a manmade one. "Ballona Freeway" would commemorate the splendid wetlands and wildlife that once lived there.

The White-faced Heron is probably Australia's most common, occurring across the continent. They're robust generalists, at home foraging along ocean foreshores, freshwater wetlands and in fields and parks for fish, crabs, frogs, tadpoles, grasshoppers and lizards. #birds #herons #WildOz

JOURNÉE MONDIALE DES ZONES HUMIDES #wetlands #Gabon

In Assam, political patronage, official apathy, and connivance by government officials led to the illegal occupation of thousands of hectares of mostly government-owned land, such as reserved forests, grazing reserves and wetlands.
How Political Patronage and Official Apathy Led to Encroachment of Government Land in India’s Border State of Assam
Encroachers belong to different communities, including local groups in some instances, but many are Muslim immigrants from erstwhile East Pakistan and Bangladesh.

We are surrounded by wetlands: the ocean! Plenty of ocean. Don’t worry I’ll fuck those up somehow too.
Too bad Tim Houston doesn't care about destroying wetlands.

Finally someone talks about the natural solutions to flooding restoring wetlands and planting more Trees and guess he did not want to hear the truth that destroying wetlands has worsened these floods

Today’s bird of the day theme is reflections. Here’s a tufted duck, reflected in the lake that’s also reflecting the surrounding trees

Palustrine wetlands are inland, freshwater areas dominated by non-tidal vegetation (e.g. marshes & swamps), defined by saturated soil or standing water & are crucial habitats with low ocean-derived salt. They lack significant tidal influence & ocean salinity; making them vital for biodiversity.
