Sulphur-crested cockatoos are large, highly intelligent, birds found in wooded habitats in Australia, New Guinea, and some of the islands of Indonesia. This one (probably male) is peering out of a nest hole in a very old Spotted Gum. In captivity, can live for 70+ years.

Following developments in the US from across the Pacific, it’s hard to see how civil war can be avoided. Trump’s egregious violations of the constitution have already provided sufficient legal justification for resistance up to the point of armed struggle and for a split in the military.
