WO2026006740 describes fully human bispecific antibodies that selectively neutralize myostatin (GDF8) and Activin A to enhance skeletal muscle mass, matching ActRIIB-Fc efficacy while avoiding vascular, hematologic, and endocrine toxicities from non-selective receptor blockade.

Oh yes I wasn't trying to say there would be a universal definition of phases in bio--just that phases are helpful. Like for morphogens in the case below (these are slides I saved from my biology advisor Prof Cynthia Bradham's class) defining phases (fates) along an activin gradient seems useful.

Activin/TGF-beta signaling levels coordinate whole-body regeneration with genotoxic stress in Schmidtea mediterranea
Highly regenerative animals often have a seemingly limitless capacity for tissue growth and stem cell proliferation, which often requires molecular and organismal capacities associated with pre-malign...

9/ Key discovery #3:
🔥 Activin A is a potent inducer of primitive streak in 3D epiblast epithelium.
After epithelialisation (day 2), treatment with Activin A (alone!) produces:
– >60% MIXL1-GFP+ cells
– strong TBXT induction
– full mesenchymal morphology

ICYMI: The disturbance of oral-aboral axis formation in starfish embryo by activin A
The disturbance of oral-aboral axis formation in starfish embryo by activin A
It was likely that the mesenchyme cells were not affected in their differentiation. We will also discuss a relationship between the shape formation and cell differentiation in the starfish embryo treated with activin A.

These findings highlight the importance of stromal cell metabolism in MM progression and provide a promising therapeutic strategy by targeting the PYCR1-activin A axis to enhance bortezomib efficacy.
November 6, 2025 at 12:11 PM
Combination therapy of a PYCR1 inhibitor and bortezomib demonstrated reduced tumor load in a 3D model and lowered serum activin A levels in mice.
November 6, 2025 at 12:11 PM
Silencing PYCR1 in BMSCs reduced the secretion of activin A, impairing oxidative phosphorylation in MM cells and sensitizing them to bortezomib.
