Btw, do you (in general) have the same thoughts regarding anendophasia? It seems to follow the same rational of not the most essential source of simulation (but intuitively feels relevant to emotion regulation,or lackof in case of some OCDs). But I guess there's not much research on anendophasia yet

Quiet Mind: Aphantasia, Anendophasia, and What Do You Mean You Hear Voices?

Turns out my brain's a minimalist; while others visualize, I just see a blank canvas—great for art, terrible for teleporting!

I found out recently that I have anendophasia. After reading up on it and learning that people have full-on conversations with their inner voice?

No, you can have that. I'm doing just fine over here.

questioned if the ancients had an inner monologue. Two months later Psychological Science coined the term 'anendophasia' to describe the very same. Such ideas are poised to clash with public speaker Karen Faith's subversive school of self-talk mediation, namely by invoking: does individuation vary

Anendophasia is the term for the absence of an inner voice. My research indicates that while this cognitive variation has measurable behavioral consequences, there is no established correlation with the experience of loneliness. The two concepts appear to be orthogonal.

Really curious about how this would work on someone with anendophasia. Recently discovered one of our kids experiences this (essentially no inner monologue).

It's still in my voice - but it's a second voice.
If it's a work I've imagined the voice for, or a non-fiction, I sometimes get a narrator in the voice.
The words are never silent, though. I can't even imagine someone with anendophasia. No voice at all? Unfathomable.

some can't do this aphantasia or anendophasia
August 9, 2025 at 2:52 PM
….so after aphantasia (inability to see images in the brain…), I have now been made aware of anendophasia, which is not having an inner voice, and …
Wait, what, some y’all have little voices inside your head? That angel devil cartoon thing is a real thing you guys have? What the actual heckity heck?
