#animationframe
I've done those modifications before DevTools official support for AnimationFrame, including placing it under the 'Animation' part of the model. It ended up being a good exercise and am still using it to get all timmings for the different sections of AnimationFrames for the entire timespan.

It includes all my modifications to DevTools in order to have the performance panel as a standalone web component, and some modifications to add more 'details' to the AnimationFrame entries coming from the trace engine for internal use by PerfLab itself.

I finally figured out how Svelvet does drag-and-drop and it's very clever! They don't use `mousemove` or `pointermove` at all. On mousedown, they add "the things to be dragged" to a context object and activate a watcher that's just running every animationFrame. /1

Playing with a bit of AnimationFrame distribution on a given trace for PerfLab. I think a histogram with stacked bars would be better cause it would also highlight the concentration of frames per bucket.

I'm working on creating a workflow to parse and extract insights data out of trace JSON to better work with embedding and context windows. Past that it'll come the extension work on the DevTools trace engine to utilize AnimationFrame data as a 'minified' context out of traces.

Then a useRef + animationFrame inside a useEffect without dependencies is what you want :)

Animating with requestAnimationFrame should be easy, but if you haven’t read React’s documentation thoroughly then you will probably run into a few things

Why would you want children to slot themselves in a manual assignment scenario? I delay slot assignment for an animationFrame on connectedCallback and use a mutation observer to watch for DOM changes to children afterwards, has worked so far.

I was curious to see how the phases of an AnimationFrame would be stacked and how much time each would have occupied per bucket.

I've color coded eaech section with its dominant threshold for INP.

This is an attempt on trying to highlight time spent vs type of work done.
