Once again it is #MolluscMonday with piping fresh mollusc photos from the weekend, this time a for me new species, the Crystal sea slug (Antiopella cristata), and i have to admit, it is one of the prettiest nudibranchs i've ever seen 🦑🤿

Some beautiful #nudibranchs from the last dives. Amazing shapes and colours! 😍
A photo of the nudibranch Polycera quadrilineata. It sits on a salp, is green-grey with orange stripes, and has four "mouth tentacles". The nudibranch Edmundsella pedata. It is pink with darker purple cerata (filaments arising from the back) which have white tips. The nudibranch Antiopella crisata. Its cerata are ballon-like elongated structures arising from its back. It is beige-transparent but the tips of the cerata are blue-violet. The nudibranch (in the wider sense, sacoglossan) Elysia rubeni. It is green, and shaped like a leaf. It has golden speckles all over, white, larger specks along the margins, and blue dots on its back and head. It is only 5 mm long.

Species #7 was the Orange and White Tipped nudi (Antiopella fusca) who was getting tossed around by the waves.

a whitish nudibranch but all you can see are the pointy cerata which have a brown line and are tipped in orange and white the same nudi but seen from the underside after it was tossed around, the foot is shiny whitish

In addition to seals I managed to find some smaller and more colorful friends in the tidepools - here's a cockscomb nudibranch, Antiopella barbarensis, perhaps 1 cm long, in a #socal tidepool. These live from CA to Baja & eat bryozoans. #tidepooling 🦀🦑 📸 OlympusTG6
