I'd like to be vulnerable here for the new year.

This is the first thing I've drawn in over six years. I had a bad commissioner and it made me stop drawing altogether.

I've also had ulnar tendonitis that made me lose most of my fine motor skills.

A rough and wobbly sketch of the head of an African elephant (3/4 angle) holding a paintbrush high with its trunk. The elephant has clown makeup on its eye and a big clown smile tracing up from its lip. It also has 7 studs on its left ear, and an angular spiral at the bottom corner of the same ear. This is me. The spiral is a reference to my old OC that people who have known me a long time might remember - a badger with red stripes and a spiral like this on each cheek. I recently bought a private Cameo from a hero of mine asking about creating art again despite the neurological and physical challenges brought on by epilepsy. He said "We are all stuck somewhere between between Michelangelo painting the Sistine Chapel and an elephant holding a paintbrush. We love the Sistine Chapel, but we also like the elephant with a paintbrush." So, this is me. An elephant with a paintbrush. Be an elephant with a paintbrush with me, if you have been feeling afraid to create again, or to start at all.

Style test/concept art of Boba and Snuff’s new design and story lore. She is armed with a wallet chain and a keychain flashlight, she is watching for Snuff, not knowing he’s already behind her, casually eating a pie. The pie is an offering, it’s filling is something red and candied, he eats it with a fork surprisingly. Straight up a terrifier 2 ref. Snuff holds a demon seal pup like an upset mother who believes her child can do no wrong. He allows the pup to hold onto his tail. Snuff is wearing a pink frilly apron over his clown attire, the apron is blood stained. The pup is a mix of Snuff and Boba’s appearance but dressed like a baby clown with demon accents. the pup has Boba’s big blue eyes but Snuff’s creepy dead stare. Don’t know the gender of the child, or name. The terrifier 3 subway scene ref. Snuff is sitting down statically, dead stare, hood gone, clown nose missing, makeup smeared. His ceremonial blade is lodged into his upper right thigh, owie, he is covered in blood. Boba is next to him, having her own far off look, she is dressed in a hospital gown while fastened in a straight jacket. However the sleeves are undone, she also wears grippy socks. In her hands is a matching ceremonial bell. She too has blood in uncomfortable areas. The first sketch where I realized I was bored with thier old look. Snuff was way different from his orginal ref anyway and there was so much I could do with boba, so screw it, it was also a test on snuffs tail and blade holster design. There is a note saying “lmao” near Boba’s butt because I drew it exaggerated and found her deer like tail really cute. I craved to draw Boba juicy, she still owns and wears the gym attire and long stupid converse.

Ahhhh! I was working outside and working on a drawing yesterday, and didn’t even look at Blue except to post my sketch! I’m Laura, I don’t do much dark art, but the ppl I follow here are inspiring me. I work in marker, ink pen, and paint pen.
A marker, ink, and paint pen drawing of a young, green, wingless Cthulhu-like monster (squid head with tentacles, anthropomorphic body, webbed fingers and toes with claws)(but not Cthulhu!) sitting on two large books, in a large circle of salt with six candles set in the salt, facing left towards a blue portal they have summoned. In the portal stands a yellow figure with sheer yellow fabric over a skull-like face. (I forgot to make the crown gold, but it’s supposed to be gold). The candle flames are all leaning to the right, like a wing is blowing out of the portal, but the green squid monster is leaning forward towards the portal, with their mouth tentacles straight forward, like they’re being pulled into the portal. The books are “A Primer on the Dark Arts for Young Old Ones” by Chambers*, and “Portal Summoning for Dummies”. It seems our young squid monster may not have read all the way to the end! *Robert W. Chambers wrote a short story called “The King in Yellow” in 1895, and it has been folded into the whole Lovecraftian mythos. That’s supposed to be the King in Yellow in the portal. No one can agree how powerful the King may be, but it’s fun to speculate in what is, essentially, an open-source multiverse. An ink drawing with marker and paint pen details. The sofa goes across most of the image, the pillows are on the left end of the sofa, and the mouse, completely wrapped in the blanket except for her nose and eyes, is facing right, holding a pen and a spiral-bound sketchbook (I like spiral-bound sketchbooks). On the sofa to the right are loose pencils, pens, and erasers (which is why I keep losing them in the sofa cushions), plus a portable electric pencil sharpener (by the mouse’s feet), a pencil case that says “an orgy of PENCILS”, a makeup brush I use to remove eraser bits, two sketchbooks, and two marker pen cases, one marked “PENS”, the other with “pens pens” written on it. On the left, there is a table, with a box of tissues, a small bendy light, and a table lamp. The two windows behind the sofa are dark, and outside at each of the windows, there are a pair of hands, palms pressed to the glass, and two sets of red eyes, both sets with one large eye, and one small eye, both with little pupils, staring at the mouse on the sofa. They appear to be curious about what she’s drawing (“Watchoo drawin’? Is it us?”). She might be drawing a bat, or a butterfly, or she could be about to jump up from the sofa and run screaming into the bathroom. Or punch the glass. (I think she’s going to punch the glass.) A marker, ink, and paint pen drawing where I did a sketch of the branch end I found, which is curved from the left side to the right, vertically, with pale green lichen on a grey-brown wood (I think it’s black walnut). It looks like a very spooky hand, so I used the same colours to draw a nosferatu-like creature behind it, with enormously long and pointy fingers, pointy ears, pointy fangs (only the top jaw, not the bottom), and big black hollows for eyes with tiny white points of light, as if the eyes were tiny and sunk deeply into the eye sockets. The creature has their right arm bent up, and curved like the branch. The background is dark blue night, with a full moon (a blank circle with no colour on the paper) above the creature, and positioned so that the “fingers” of the branch are holding the moon. It should look spooky, but everything I draw ends up cute, so I drew a cute weird creature under the moon. I call this one “Nosferawwwwwtu”. You’re welcome! :) A colour marker, ink, and paint pen drawing of a giant pair of white gloved clown hands thrown wide, with yellow spotted spider-like creatures pouring out of the hands towards the viewer, getting larger as they reach the front of the drawing. All the spider-things have a pair of glossy black eyes, but no mouths. The clown hands have ruffled orange cuffs, and the background is black. This was part of a dream I had last night about a bad circus. I woke up just as the pair of very cute rats I had found under a chair whipped around into a pod that started spraying something bad, and everyone started screaming. Someone grabbed my arm, and it was my husband, waking me up to take my pills. Phew!

I'm Tay, a Korean-Canadian doodler who does portraits for fanart / friends' D&D OCs as a hobby.
