I read “Bartleby, the Scrivener,” by Herman Melville, sophomore year in college, for my English minor.

I found it very amusing when recently looking at old organic chemistry notebooks, to see “I would prefer not to” scribbled in the margins.

Yesterday I was testing #Deepseek-R1 locally for coding and was surprised when it gave me the same code back after I'd requested changes. Very #BartlebyTheScrivener Looking at the reasoning I could see where it started talking itself out of the request after generating 'I'm still a bit confused...':
