I am awake when I shouldn't be, but I have finally found the fated cherry blossoms. It is interesting, that there is a village seemingly abandoned, that splits off to the bottom of the mountain with a lone iron golem. (There are many caverns...)

3/n The Ghost Cat by Alex Howard.

A 2023 very light novel as a ghost cat sees the changes of a house through time. I was bothered by some historical errors (eg there was no TV in the UK in 1942). Overall it felt like a quick exploitation of the Japanese cosy cat genre market.
Book as named in post. It has an illustrated cover of a pale ginger cat sitting on a windowsill overlooking a roofscape. An in blossom tree is overhead. As the tree in the book is a sycamore, not a flowering cherry, it makes me think they were targeting readers of the Japanese cosy cat genre.
