#by-election
Agreed,
3 Presidents suspected, 2 investigated for conspiring with a foreign adversary to win an election.
Both investigations cleaned (covered) up by Bill Barr
89-1 Pres' admin' officials convicted for crimes committed in office over the past 50 years

Still hasn't changed GOP voters attitude.

I’m suggesting that the electorate in a general election doesn’t usually fall neatly into buckets labeled “Democrats” and “Republicans”, so it’s usually pretty difficult to win a general election simply by appealing to one’s own “team”. This premise seems to give you difficulty. Why?

Over a # of presidential election cycles, a democratically elected Democrat, been forced to rebuild the economy destroyed by Republican policy. Bush I then Clinton, Bush II then Obama, Trump then Biden.

TRAITOR Trump destroys again. Why US citizens blind to repeated GOP destruction?

NEVER AGAIN!

Inching forward towards majority (172 seats):
3rd Conservative crosses the floor to Liberals
1 NDP (Doly Begum)running for Libs in Scarborough West by-election for Blair's seat.
By-election for Freeland's seat is a shoo-in for Liberals (Danielle Martin).

My belief is Trump wants Crockett to win the primary because he knows she will have a far harder time in the general election than Talerico in Texas, that is the reason the FCC stepped in. Kinda backfired by the FCC, I don't think Colbert did that intentionally other than he wanted Talerico as a

Actually the main reason cited by Biden 2020 voters who abstained in 2024 was Gaza. It flipped the election. What you're saying is that Democrats were going to lose in 2024 no matter what, in which case, why blame your potential allies on the left when the ascendant right is your real enemy?

From my European perspective the all important role played by financial resources in the US presidential election precludes calling it “a model of democracy”.
The U.S. often views itself as a model of democracy. But other countries have tried to do more to prevent gerrymandering. Here’s a look at what makes them different on redistricting.
What to Know About How Redistricting Is Different in the U.S.
In the battle for Congress, redistricting has become all the rage in America. Here’s how other nations handle this issue differently.

Hopefully even tho election fraud has been commited in 2016, 2020 and 2024 (but by the republicans, trump and forgein actors) i hope the blue wave will be big enough to wash all the bloodred off the map this november.

Mark Harris is a Baptist pastor from NC whose 2018 “victory” in a congressional campaign was overturned due to *election fraud* committed by his campaign. Naturally, he’s promoting the GOP’s so-called “Save America Act,” which wld require that every state give their voter rolls to Trump’s DHS. 1/

Here in University-Rosedale, the Liberals have appointed a candidate to run in a by-election to replace Chrystia Freeland who has a very progressive sheen, so we can embrace the notion of a great big tent.
I know liberals see this as "Yay! Building up that majority! Bleeding Poilievre dry!"

But for the rest of us, this is a huge red flag.

These people ran on a platform of hate, xenophobia and fear mongering. What does it say that they feel seen by the Liberals right now? Yikes.

A former federal election official says the FBI's affidavit justifying last month's Fulton County raid misrepresented basic election facts, despite the agency's claims having already been investigated and debunked by Georgia officials. cyberscoop.com/fulton-count...
Fulton County lawsuit claims feds used ‘gross mischaracterizations’ to justify raid
Former federal elections expert Ryan Macias testifies that the FBI’s Fulton County raid was based on "baseless" claims and "gross mischaracterizations" of the 2020 election process.

Labour is expected to get trounced in local elections this May. Unfortunately, many of those seats will go to Reform UK, but Greens should pick up others.

These local elections & the parliamentary by-election in Gorton and Denton next week could persuade more to vote Green in the General.
Even if RefUK wins these elections (local & by-), if Greens come 2nd and Labour a poor 3rd (or worse) - especially in seats that Labour now holds - it would smash Labour's argument that only it can stop RefUK in the General Election, and more of present Labour voters would vote tactically Green.

Wow big news. The Terrebonne situation becomes even more significant now. Does anyone know when that by-election might take place?
February 18, 2026 at 4:03 PM
So it would mean the horror of... an election? I guess Republicans don't want elections any more, except those they are certain of winning by fair means or foul.
I don't see a problem as long as justice prevails.

Hillary won the Popular vote, which was nullified by the Electoral College system. Something Clinton and Dems have refused to abolish. Trump didn't rig the 16 election. Dems kept propping up the EC and it cost them a win in 2000 and in 2016.

What would happen if an MP had the whip suspended by their party? Would this trigger a by-election?

And why is that, exactly? Lemme guess, you think that the amount of votes the Democrats would lose by passing popular policies like Medicare for all and abolishing ICE would be greater than the election-flipping amount of votes they're currently losing from people on the left abstaining?

If there were actual proof of organized election rigging by some shadowy religious group, it would be front page news and in court immediately. Instead, it’s just a fundraising email.

Second, this kind of language paints millions of Muslim Americans with a broad, dangerous brush.

Carney's back-door way to a majority gov't.

If you leave a party, you should have to sit a year as an Independent and then, pending a by-election with a two-thirds majority, perhaps join that new party. Otherwise, you sit Independent or re-join your old party.

Worth noting that by doing this DeSantis created the additional cost of running another election two weeks after the regular municipal elections.
In a classic Florida story, this special election was both caused by *and* delayed by Ron DeSantis, who tapped a loyalist despised by the House GOP for a local post in Palm Beach County.

Then he refused to call an election until the Dem pictured below, Emily Gregory, sued. Now it's on for March 24.
Florida Democrat Emily Gregory has the chance next month to flip a State House district that’s home to none other than Donald Trump’s seaside lair of Mar-a-Lago.
