The Lambir Hills National Park is a national park in Miri Division, Sarawak, Malaysia, on the island of Borneo. It is a small park, at 6,952 hectares, and is composed largely of mixed dipterocarp forest, with some small areas of 'kerangas'. The park is 150–465 m (492–1,526 ft) above sea level.

Yes, Dipterocarp fruit wings are relatively thick and heavy, but they get the job done. Seed wings, like those of Pinus, tend to be thinner.

Fossils of an endangered, endemic, giant dipterocarp species open a historical portal into Borneo's vanishing rainforests
Premise Asia's wet tropical forests face a severe biodiversity crisis, but few fossils record their evolutionary history. We recently discovered in situ cuticles on fossil leaves, attributed to the ...

Malua, Borneo

The dipterocarp (broccoli looking) trees in Borneo are SO tall. I'm taking this from the upper level of the walk, featuring the second, and the behind the tree you can see the lower level some 30 feet below. Hard to spot wildlife though. #canopywalk #photography #borneo

Indeed: how natural are those open deciduous dipterocarp forests so beloved by Asian Elephants given the very long history of anthropogenic fires? Haven't a clue!
