This is more akin to Des' social standing rather than social class, but I like what I wrote so it stays

Des has always found herself on the outskirts, never quite fitting in.

As an infant, the wariness the village held for her mother continued towards Des, with some even suggesting the baby was a bad omen and should be castout, though this cruelty was quickly rejected by the druids. Despite her dark beginnings, Desdemona grew into a healthy young girl, though many treated her coldly and viewed her with caution, wondering if she'd succumb to the same madness as her mother.

After a devastating drider attack that took the life of her mentor and the village's eldest druid, Aislin, the village turned on Des. Many became convinced that she was cursed; a scourge on the village that would lead to their extinction.

Some went as far as to accuse her of orchestrating the attack. The remaining druids tried to to be the voice of reason, but the villagers were angry, hurting, and desperately needed to assign meaning to their deep losses.

They exiled Desdemona from the village and into the depths of the caves, hoping that ridding their home of the strange, tragic girl would help them escape from the string of
strange, tragic years they'd found themselves trapped in.

In Waterdeep, Des lived a quiet, introverted life. The sun hurt her eyes, and she drew unwanted stares and whispers when she left Adhita's tower. She preferred to stay inside, enjoying the company of Adhita and the other two students who resided in the tower, Wren and and Sadeis.
