We left the New Forest on the @oriolebirding.bsky.social & headed north to Bentley Woods & Martin Down. It was very hot but full of insect life & the Butterfly list took a big boost along with some quality day flying moths, bees & excellent flora. Both Red-eyed Damsels were seen too at Eyeworth

I knew that Mandaring Ducks were to be seen on Eyeworth Pond, Fritham, New Forest, UK as I had seen them there. I returned and a male Mandarin showed. An awful lot of cleaning up later, it was taken at the post chick rearing moult, I had this image which I really quite like.

This is an outline map of my walk. 34.5 miles from West Dean train station to Lymington train station. If possible, I like to do my long distance walks by public transport. First camp was in Eyeworth Wood and the second in Brownhill Inclosure :)
