I've said forever that the US right has been pushing for Feudalism 2.0 since the 18th century--it failed then because no one wanted to be a serf when there was so much land/opportunity (so they went w/slavery). Now the rich have destroyed opportunity so they have a better chance to push serfdom.

Saying “you, your kids, and your grandkids will work in these plants” mirrors the feudal idea where families were tied to a single estate or trade for generations. In feudalism, people didn’t own the land — they just worked it.
