Sie haben damit offenbar eine Marktnische entdeckt, weitere Abende werden folgen. Irene Brickner Die Tanzfläche ist gesteckt voll. Frauen in bunten Kleidern oder Glitzertops und Miniröcken, Männer in T-Shirts oder Sakko mit Schlips. Soviel zu Altersklischees. Der „Schnee, auf dem wir alle talwärts fahren, kennt heute jedes Kind“, intoniert der Sänger aus der Dose: Lyrics, die hier offenbar jeder und jede kennt. Denn als die Strophe vorbei ist und DJ Chris Crocodile spontan den Schall „Dududududum …“ herunterschaltet, reagieren die Tanzenden sofort: „Drah di net um, der Kommissar geht um“, intonieren sie den Refrain laut im Chor und heben gemeinsam die Arme. Dann wummert Hansi Hölzels Nummer „Der Kommissar“ in voller Lautstärke weiter. Am Rande des Tanzparketts strebt Gerlinde den etwas ruhigeren Gefilden des Lokals zu, um eine Pause einzulegen. „Super“, sagt die braunlockige Frau im Vorbeigehen – besser gesagt: Sie schreit es gegen die Musik an. „Das letzte Mal war ich vor 30 Jahren in einer Disco, irgendwo im ersten Bezirk“, setzt sie fort. „Aber das hier macht mir genau so viel Spaß wie früher.“ Gegen Altenklischees Gerlinde ist 60 und in Pension. Sie mag Discomusik, „alles aus den 70er-, 80er- und 90er-Jahren“. Im Wiener Meidlinger U4 in Wien-Meidling hat sie eine Veranstaltung geführt, die es in ihrer Art bislang noch nicht gab: In dem berühmten Wiener Club und ehemaligen Treff der österreichischen und internationalen Musikszene ist an diesem Jännerabend Dancefloor frei für die Generation 60 plus. „Klub 66“ – so heißt er – nennt sich die Initiative, die einen Kontrapunkt zu den vermutlich eher klischeehaften Vorstellungen vom Älterwerden setzen will: Disco-Life statt Bastelkreis. So… Thanks to everyone being patient with the slower releases of LoTDD. This final Arc is the most healing focused. Which makes it a mess to pace and feel out.

The difference and difficulty and keys in writing healing, as opposed to the trauma that came before, is in the repetition. Trauma can be inflicted in a single stroke of words. Will stick and sometimes never let go. A wound dealt, a horror inflicted with your own hands, a life broken or even lost forever to us. One whip-snap-crack and your character is wounded in ways she's never really know how to deal with. But healing? Fuck. That's fake it till you make it shit. Commit to the motions. Hear the same words and do the same motions over and over and over until your ears and heart bleed from the raw grooves they etch upon your soul over the broken parts. Sew the threads together and wait a few eternities to notice the nerves reconnect a little. And even then… The new broken gerl is gonna be not just different from the one from before, or the weeping bleeding wretch lashing out at the Dream, but… new. Messy. And it's… so hard to feel worth loving herself. That's… why I think writing it is so hard. Because you need to repeat the worbs of healing over and over and OVER. Find new ways to phrase things. Be patient. And hope to the Dreamer's rotting tits that you're making it while faking it. Doing that is hard enough. But writing it? Well… fuck, now this has to be some kind of carefully woven so readers can see that. Feel the slow terror of rising hope while still wanting to turn the page. Trauma is as simple as falling in a well. Or being pushed down. Healing is harder. As impossible as climbing out. Struggling to to slip or get kicked back down in those final parts. Takes the patient strength that is willing to fall a bit or even a lot and keep climbing. Writing reflects this.
