Hortlandia is fun, but dangerous to my wallet.

New PCI iris 'Violent Queen' I picked up at Hortlandia. It's a little floppy, so I had to pick up the stem to get a good pic. I've got another purple PCI hybrid that's shorter and blooms later. 🌱

Am too tired to blog about Hortlandia and am glad Loree posted about it today. My cat shirt made a lot of folks happy. 😊 We need to do what we can.

Be the one who says no (and my trip to Hortlandia)
I intended today's post to be about the Hardy Plant Society of Oregon's spring plant sale, Hortlandia , which took place last weekend. I'll ...

Oh please let us know what you got! Haven’t been to Hortlandia since prepandemic. I’ve tried zooming in on your plant tags but can’t read them. Do I see some things from Cistus?

Went to Hortlandia, the annual plant fair put on by the Hardy Plant Society of Oregon, with the idea that I was just going to take a peak. Just a little one. Yeah. Right. How did that work out? Ask Fuchsia ‘Roswitha’.

Going to Hortlandia tomorrow and I am very excited. I am going to try to only buy repeats of things I already have (I will most likely fail at this and purchase a bunch of stuff I've never grown before). 🌱

More pinky than I generally go but the yellow center is so cheerful. I got my testers at Hortlandia, they are pretty easy to find in catalogs.

Scene at Hortlandia. Fuchsia thymifolia. This big tiny beauty was courtesy of N & M Herb Nursery of Hubbard, Ore.

I had hortlandia and the trillium festival at Tryon State Park on my calendar this weekend but bailed on both. Yes cuz of rain but also cuz I decided I should plant/tend the plants I already had. 😅
But you make a good point about the connections and supporting vendors and now I wish I had gone.

We have opted to attend less large shows and focus on seed production at home. We’re about topped out for space here, save the usual annual suspects.
There are a few places we have on our Grand Tour schedule this season.
I do miss catching up with many of the growers though. But Hortlandia… 2/x

🌱The Hardy Plant Society sponsors a spring kickoff event called Hortlandia here in Portland Metro area. We’ve gone every year for the last 5 and have always wheeled out carts full of incredible plants.
An absolute cracker of a good time. Good to reconnect with friends and nursery folk. 1/x

You could have gone to Hortlandia! Or not.
Staying home with Neptune was the smarter choice.

You know plant buying is getting real when you have overnight plant buying trips. Hortlandia!

The upside to my sibling and nibling cancelling their visit this April is that I can go to Hortlandia again.
