For our first post on Bluesky, we thought we'd take a wee twirl around the Sun Stone, an early medieval standing cross carved in the lost Viking-Age kingdom of the Strathclyde Britons and found in our 1,500-year-old churchyard in Govan, located in Glasgow, Scotland.

#interlaceincluded #beautifulbook. For years, I could stand alongside the Worms Bible and look over her shoulder while Aliza Mushlin-Cohen worked on her PhD dissertation on it, and I worked on mine on the 9th-century Royal Bible.
I think it's worth standing up to big books of their stature. Agree?

Ms. Codex 243 is an Italian compendium of Aristotle's Nichomachean ethics, written ca. 1500. It includes 46 large decorated initials, in a variety of colors, decorated with complicated interlacings of serrated branchwork with cone-like fruit.
