Photo taken by the late Nick Soon [of Kaupo Store/Kaupo General Store fame] who was standing on another water flume that spanned Palikea. I received permission from his estate to use the photo in the exhibits at #Kīpahulu & Interpretive program efforts, but the family maintains publication rights.
In addition to the peaceful beauty when it's calm, & the tremendous flood forces when Palikea Stream channels the waters from over 8,000 acres of #Kīpahulu Valley, this area is full of Hawaiian & Plantation Era history. [note wooden flume of sugar plantation near #Makahiku Falls on #Palikea Stream.

Photo taken by the late Nick Soon [of Kaupo Store/Kaupo General Store fame] who was standing on another water flume that spanned Palikea. I received permission from his estate to use the photo in the exhibits at #Kīpahulu & Interpretive program efforts, but the family maintains publication rights.
