I think it's also worth considering that the only Luma we see in the first movie is Lumalee, the shop Luma, who does have a mouth. Unless we've seen other Lumas and I just didn't notice or remember, which I'm totally willing to believe if given evidence.

The lumas have kid voices(which is perfect btw), so why can't they do that with Bowser Jr? I have one theory why he sounds like that, but I doubt it'll happen in the movie.
