Do you need help with medieval Latin? I offer language teaching *and* research assistance, so if you just want a quick answer – e.g. a transcription or translation, or a manuscript identification – I can do that too. Further details here: latin.brunellus.com #medievalLatin #medievalSky

Who recognizes this sentence (and the text from which it comes)? It looks like a mightily interesting personal account of domestic affairs.

The meeting of the network of medieval Latin dictionaries really woke some memories. As before, we spoke Spanish, French, and English to one another and seemed to communicate. However, the attitude towards digital technologies has changed dramatically. #MedievalLatin

New Wyclif polemic discovered! Only 250 words long, but not obviously detached from a larger work. It isn’t ascribed to him in the manuscript (no titulus or colophon) but the style is recognizably his. I’m posting it here because the content is eerily topical. #medievalLatin #medievalSky #genAI

Hmm, spot the difference between the preface to Beeson’s Primer of Medieval Latin (1925) and the blurb for the 1986 reprint! Yes, alright, I’ve made this too easy. (And no, the asterisked footnote to the blurb doesn’t explain that this “text book” is just an anthology.) #medievalSky #medievalLatin

In fact it’s been a week full of distractions so far; probably normal for someone with AuDHD.

One of my background projects is some research into medieval history which involves reading manuscripts.

I’m drawing up a list of institutions that either (1) teach beginner’s Latin to medievalists or (2) expect students to have some Latin before they start a medieval course. All information welcome! NB: I’m only asking about places where teaching is in English. #medievalSky #medievalLatin #ClassicsSky

I’m teaching an advanced online class in medieval Latin from May 27 to July 3 as part of the Marco Summer Language Program. This would be good preparation for the Toronto Level II exam in September, but of course it would have other uses too. marco.utk.edu/summerlangua... #medievalLatin #medievalSky
