#miswak
I would brush in the evening so they don't rot

And I'd use those miswak sticks the whole rest of the day because that's not technically brushing but more like rubbing so it doesn't really count except for keeping my teeth clean

Pues dejaré de fumar, pero a ver luego quién me quita a mí la adicción a mordisquear los palitos miswak esos, que me paso las 24 horas dale que te pego.

this may not work for you, but tai chi has been helping me a lot lately

also, miswak gave me a healthy habit for oral stimulation like a cigarette might… 🤷‍♀️ just throwing those out there!

A bath. I have to reset my skin after 6 full months of doing whatever I need to do to survive. That wouldn't be just a physical reset, but a mental one. I would have a few miswak, a chewing stick used for oral hygiene, with me at all times, so I'm good on that part
CHAT I HAVE A QUESTION

It’s the apocalypse and you finally find a civilization after 6 months of running. They said you can either take a bath OR brush your teeth, but you can’t do both because of limited supplies.

Which one are you choosing? Mind you it’s been 6 months since you’ve done either.

When in Mecca, you can buy miswak from a street vendor. Miswak, also called siwak, refers to a branch, bud, or piece of root of the toothbrush tree, which is used to clean teeth.

🧪I remember as a teen, I was told by an imam that men chew on miswak for health reasons. New research shows chewing on wood increases glutathione which is quite protective for the brain. www.psypost.org/chewing-wood...
Chewing wood may boost memory and brain antioxidants, study finds
A new study found chewing wood increased levels of glutathione, a key brain antioxidant, and was linked to better memory in young adults.

Miswak, a completely natural toothbrush that has been used for thousands of years, is very beneficial for oral health.
It contains fluoride, calcium, silica, and strong antibacterial compounds.

High points in the journey:

Lemonade toothpaste from Go Smile (rip)

Miswak toothpaste my friend brought back from India

That perfect raspberry toothpaste of my youth.

Fin. I think.

ahh thank you 😭 I always forget this trick, instant relief 😮‍💨

I cracked a basically 90° chunk off my tooth because of an almond with a fancy dinner I made 😭

Ive also found fluoride toothpaste causes insane flair ups for me so I've switched to miswak stick. I'm glad you were able to find relief!

FAIR, lol. I went crazy with worldbuilding when I was young, just cuz it was fun. I wasn't really doing it for the goal of writing books or anything. I was just having fun and being creative 😌

And when I learned about miswak sticks, I immediately wanted them in my fantasy world!

her sharp teeth sometimes hurt her, so she dulls them by chewing on miswak (sticks of fragrant bark).

when she was younger, she believed her echo was her being possessed by spirits that plagued her, and she would carry religious talismans to ward off evil (to no avail)

yay!! tbh miswak helps with the oral stuff (and it’s a stick! here’s a stick! a stick! a stick! get the stick!)

the miswak sticks are a lot more like a root than a stick than i expected and they faintly taste of fresh radish (like a hint of radish spiciness)

I love “communists won’t take your toothbrush” vulgar marxism, what are you doing assuming the continued existence of disposable plastic consumer goods, like there’s no chance that planned production is going to move to miswak for environmental reasons or whatnot
