The tidbit that stands out the most to me is MORE independents showed up for that election, in support of Trump, which means campaigning on ethnic cleansing a month before election day was literally the tipping point they needed to get into voting.

Nice theory, but it won't play out that way. Dems won't keep pressing the ACA, they will not be credited with opening the government, the press will make sure this proves they were the ones who kept it shut down. They lost much needed support from independents and some Dems while the GOP gets more

#UsPolitics it’s time we had more than 2 major parties. In the last election 85 million citizens didn’t vote. Since there are more independents than either Democrats or GOP MAGA maybe more people will get involved and vote. The tents of the 2 major parties don’t support all. Change is needed.

We can be better than this if we just stop blaming each other and bring the fight back to those at the top.

True. But when we voted Labor in we thought we were voting for climate action. But we got Tanya Plibersek then Murray Watt. Labor is a thorough disappointment and we needed more independents last time around.

The problem with the coalition doing poorly, is that Albo thinks doing nothing to address any of our most pressing issues is acceptable. I love having more independents, but do feel a new party might be needed to make it easier for voters.

Actually, she did with Walz BUT Independents and Unaffiliated are swing voters inherently and they lean on the more conservative/cautious side. We knew what her message was but it didn't inspire the type of reaction at the volume she needed to overcome the lack of conservative Dem participation...
