Nachtschicht geschmissen weil meine Cloud-Platte (hängt an Pi 5) den Pi bisschen überfordert wenn sie aus dem Sleep während des Spin-Up bis zu 1,5A will und dann I/O errors... 😅
Und in der fstab noch ein "nofail" damit kein emergency mode mehr weil systemd/d-bus crasht

Nachtschicht geschmissen weil meine Cloud-Platte (hängt an Pi 5) den Pi bisschen überfordert wenn sie aus dem Sleep während des Spin-Up bis zu 1,5A will und dann I/O errors... 😅

You're right. I probably should do that. But when the problem happens, I have to go into `fstab` & find what's wrong & fix it.
So usually I end up fixing it… & forgetting to put `nofail` in.

'noauto' and/or 'nofail' are your friends. For NFS, there is 'bg'. Completely standards-compliant.

These errors extend to real tasks as well. I was using gpt5 unknowingly yesterday trying to configure an SMB share and adding it to fstab in nofail mode. The LLM made up several Linux packages (as usual) and after a few minutes I got“you’ve hit your gpt5 limit” which surprised me

The disk drives is a mount option issue, you needed nofail in fstab options for those drives

Hint: Don't forget to stick "nofail" in the options for your secondary drives so your system will still boot if one dies or you pull one out.

My backup drive in my server died last night, and I didn't have nofail set in fstab. So, I had to pull the server and connect it to a monitor to get it to boot so I could debug. Drive is toast. I slapped in an old smaller drive so I can at least have some backups for now.
